The short version
Everything you say to Stowe stays on your phone. Your voice is transcribed on-device, turned into tasks on-device, and stored on-device. Nothing you capture — no audio, no transcripts, no task text — is ever sent anywhere.
What stays on your phone
Voice recordings, transcriptions, tasks, routines, plans, streaks, and reflections — including the weekly AI-written reflection on your Journal, generated on-device via Apple Intelligence with no network call. Speech recognition uses Apple’s on-device engine; task structuring uses Apple Intelligence on-device models. Stowe has no accounts and no server of its own.
What leaves your phone
Two narrow things, neither containing anything you capture:
- Anonymous usage events (via PostHog) — for example “a plan was made” or “a capture used the voice path”, with counts and timings. Never the content of a capture, task, or plan. These are not linked to your identity and are not used to track you across apps.
- Purchase records (via Apple and RevenueCat) — if you subscribe to Stowe Pro, the subscription state needed to unlock your purchase. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple.
Permissions
Stowe asks for microphone and speech-recognition access to capture your voice, and notification access to remind you of your plan. All are optional; typing works without any of them.
Data deletion
Deleting the app deletes your data — it only ever lived on your device.
